My best friend.
There are so many things I miss about living in the same city as her, but highest on that list are our coffee talks. In fact, every time we get together we always manage to squeeze in the ritual of coffee. Whether it's long coffee talks before an afternoon of shopping or a quick stop at the barista before a road trip, coffee is a MUST on our to-do list.
I really miss our chats over coffee-- about life and love and our latest Aveda purchase. ;-)
Putting together a holiday gift that conveys how much I love and miss her was easy. It HAD to involve coffee. Delicious coffee and a little something extra.
Enter Peet's Holiday Blend. My little elves and I hopped in our sleigh and zoomed over to the local Genuardis. When I read this blend had hints of chocolate, I knew it was perfect for my chocolate-loving {and super-skinny, darn it!) BFF.
Then I went looking for a resuable coffee mug that looks like one you'd get at a coffee shop. It's kinda an old joke with us, we used to buy coffee-shop like paper cups for our homebrewed coffee to make them feel like fancy coffee shop treats. When I spotted this BPA-free cup at Old Navy for $5, I knew we were in business. They had several colors, but I figured the blue one would brighten any day.
As I tucked the Peet's Holiday Blend and reusable cup into the box to mail, I was filled with happiness. Happiness knowing my hard-working friend would get a special treat. Happiness remembering our past coffee talks and those still to come. Happiness thinking of the surprise she'll get when this box arrives on her doorstep {or, when she reads this post, ooooppss!}
Next, a handwritten note.
Then I wrapped the whole thing in tissue and added some mini-bunting I made last year.
PS- that mini-bunting is easy to make. I simply (slowly) ran some triangles cut from fabric scraps through the sewing machine. And... voila! Mini-bunting.
My favorite gifts are the personal ones. Noodle and I have been working on several other homemade gifts I'll share soon, but right now I'm happy with my semi-homemade gift and the knowledge that someone special is going to get something special this week.
For those that like a bargain like I do, my Holiday Blend bag had a peelie coupon for $2 off the bag when purchased with another blend of Peet's Coffee. Stack with a sale and that makes for some cheap Peet's!
I also might tuck an extra bag into someone's stocking. But only if he's on the "nice" list. Which he always is, that sweet guy.
Giveaway
I'd certainly be a candidate for the naughty list if I talked all about this coffee and not offer something for you. Peet's Coffee is offering a giveaway of a $75 Peet's Gift. That'll fill a lot of stockings!
I'm switching things up a bit to keep things lively. I know not all of you are on Pinterest yet (what?!) so there's three options for entry-- with the Pinterest option giving you two extra chances to win. You can complete as many options as you'd like, just be sure to leave a comment for each entry!
Option #1-- leave two comments, since it will give you two chances to win: Pin any of the images from this post to Pinterest and include the hashtag #PeetsCoffee in the description (and it wouldn't hurt if you'd give my blog name a shout-out, but it's not required).
Option #2: Leave a comment describing a simple gift idea or to whom you'd gift a bag of Peet's Holiday Blend.
Option #3: Tweet the following (up to one time a day): "Want to win a $75 #PeetsCoffee prize? Enter @MakingLemonade1's giveaway (and check out her easy gift idea!) http://ow.ly/7PiMs #CBias"
This contest is open to all, but since there are several #PeetsCoffee holiday giveaways going on right now on other blogs, you can only win this prize once. The winner will be chosen using Random.org, and the giveaway ends 12/12 at 11:59PM. Good Luck!
Want to see the "elves" in action during our shopping trip? Check out my Google+ story about it!
How do you and your BFF pass the time? Any special rituals, like coffee talk or shopping? Have any simple gift ideas to share? And don't forget to comment for a chance to win a $75 gift from Peet's Coffee!

ReplyDeleteA simple gift idea: Buy a gift card to blockbuster, and put it in a basket with boxed candy, bags of pop corn and a bottle of soda and a gift certificate to your favorite fast food place (like pizza hut or mcdonalds). Family Movie Night in!

My BFF moved from North Carolina to Michigan, leaving me behind! She's not a coffee drinker, but we never miss a chance to hit Panera for bagels - and coffee for me - when we get together, then head out to go shopping!

I love your basket idea and you've inspired me! I'd create a similar one for my ex-worker friend who now lives far away. We used to love to take coffee breaks together. At least with a Peet's gift basket, I know we'll be "sharing" a cup, even if we're in different cities. :)

To whom I'd give it to...can I be totally selfish and say ME? With loads of late nights lately and 4 kids who think a late morning is 6:45am, I'm needing myself some coffee!
ReplyDeleteNot a coffee drinker at all so I'd give it to my other half - he can't live without the stuff!
