No-Sew Curtains and Noodle's Room Update

I've been teasing you with this fabric for ages now.

Truth is, I didn't end up using it for anything fancy but rather for something we needed in Noodle's room.

The other truth is that I probably should have waited for my sewing machine to come back from the repair shop, but knew if I had waited these curtains never would have gotten finished.  Originally I was going to line them as well (I even went so far as to measure and cut fabric for it) but with no sewing machine and a time crunch I decided to wait.  There's mini-blinds in that window so they actually don't need to be lined, it was just me being a little too OCD.  Whew, thank goodness I'm over that!

The good news is that as long as you have an iron, you can make them.

It was as easy as cutting two panels to the desired length, and ironing the hem (with iron tape inside) on all four sides.  For the top part, I folded down the hemmed edge (to include enough space for the extra-wide curtain rod) and iron-taped that, too.

Forgive that I don't have step-by-step directions but I didn't want to insult your intelligence by pretending I'm the first person to ever make no-sew window curtains.  ;-)

The finishing touch?  Using two of Noodle's pink hair bows as pull-backs.  Free, easy, and cute to boot!

Now I have a decision to make.  I have a vintage trunk I want to rework into a costume chest to place under this window.  I'm wondering if I should use the same fabric, something totally different, or perhaps this fun faux bois print from IKEA:

As for the other touches, I took down the wall of black chalkboard clouds and used them instead to label the boxes.

And Mr. Frog had something to say, too.  ;-)

Of course, there's the runaway butterflies but you already knew about those guys.

Sigh.  I think I'll live in this room.  It makes me happy.  Wonder if Noodle would mind?

Kid's rooms are so much fun to decorate. It's a good thing I love Bee's nautical nursery so much or it would be next on the "to-do" list!

  1. Her room is very pretty & I love all of the colors! The curtains are also very cute! My favorite room(s) in the house would be our kitchen & living room (they are open to one another.) The colors are so calming & we just installed some board/batten in my living room last weekend that I am also drooling over...haven't posted it to my blog yet though!
